As temperatures rise and summer travel enters its peak season, hotels across China are introducing seasonal dining, wellness and leisure programs to attract travelers and local residents seeking short urban getaways.

Among them, the Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen in Shenzhen, Guangdong province has launched its “101 Days of Summer” initiative, a program running from late May through early September that combines seasonal food and beverage offerings with wellness-focused experiences.

The move reflects a growing trend in the hospitality sector, where hotels are increasingly developing limited-time seasonal events to appeal to consumers looking for immersive experiences beyond traditional accommodation.

A centerpiece of the program is a tropical-themed afternoon tea featuring seasonal fruits such as mango, pineapple and coconut. The ingredients are incorporated into a range of pastries, desserts and savory bites served at the hotel’s Yi Lounge. Fruit-based beverages and sorbets are also part of the summer menu.

The hotel has also introduced a collection of artisanal ice cream creations inspired by summer flavors, including berry-based desserts and vanilla ice cream paired with sea salt cheese. Seasonal cocktails featuring tropical fruits, citrus and tea-infused ingredients have been added to complement the food offerings.

In addition to dining experiences, the hotel is promoting its outdoor pool and spa facilities as part of a broader focus on wellness tourism, a segment that has seen growing interest among Chinese consumers in recent years.

Located in Shenzhen’s Futian district, the hotel is targeting both visitors and local residents looking for leisure experiences within the city. Industry observers note that urban staycations remain a significant driver of demand, particularly during holiday periods and the summer months.

As competition intensifies, seasonal food, wellness and lifestyle programs have become important tools for hotels seeking to capture summer spending and cater to travelers looking for relaxation closer to home.
