China’s express delivery volume surpassed 100 billion parcels as of June 30, reaching the milestone nine days earlier than last year, the State Post Bureau of China said on Saturday.

The figure points to the continued resilience of China’s postal and express delivery sector, as well as steady activity in the country’s consumer market, according to the bureau. In 2025, China handled 198.95 billion express parcels, up 13.6 percent year-on-year, maintaining its position as the world’s largest express delivery market.

The bureau said pro-consumption policies, improving service capacity and more efficient logistics links have helped sustain growth in parcel deliveries this year. The sector has also expanded its role beyond online shopping, providing stronger support for rural communities, manufacturing supply chains and cross-border e-commerce.

In rural areas, express delivery companies have improved county, township and village-level networks to help agricultural products reach wider markets. In Sanmenxia, Henan province, seasonal vegetables are being shipped through cold-chain express services, with daily outbound deliveries reaching around 8,000 parcels.

The industry is also becoming more closely integrated with manufacturing. In Xinyu, Jiangxi province, express logistics services support the distribution of fashion footwear to domestic and overseas consumers, with an annual parcel volume reaching 190 million and about 30,000 jobs created. In Tangshan, Hebei province, customized packaging solutions for ceramic products have helped reduce damage risks and cut packaging material costs by 15 percent per item.

International delivery capacity is also being strengthened as Chinese express companies expand overseas networks and provide logistics solutions for cross-border e-commerce, intelligent manufacturing and technology firms going global.

The bureau said the industry is shifting its focus toward both effective quality improvement and reasonable volume growth, while further upgrading governance, green packaging and the protection of courier workers’ rights.
