Chinese tech firm Tenclass showcased its AI-powered elderly care solution at the 2026 World Summit on the Information Society in Geneva, as the world faces a shared challenge of an aging population.
“Aging is not a problem confined to any single nation — it is a shared challenge for all of humanity,” Wang Dexiang, vice-president of Tenclass, told global delegates at the summit.
Wang said that current global approaches to elderly care — from Japan’s caregiving robots to Europe’s legislative mandates on digital accessibility and America’s focus on home health monitoring — have largely overlooked the deeper spiritual needs and loss of social identity faced by older populations.
The WSIS Forum 2026, held last week and co-organized by the International Telecommunication Union, the Swiss Federation, UNESCO, and the UNDP, brought together governments, international organizations, and tech leaders to explore digital inclusion and information accessibility.
Drawing on WHO projections that by 2030 one in six people globally will be aged 60 or above, and that the global elderly population will reach 2.1 billion by 2050, Wang positioned China as a unique testing ground. With the world’s largest and fastest-aging population converging with rapid digitalization, China faces unique pressures.
Unlike developed nations that aged after achieving affluence, China has pursued a distinct path — combining top-down policy support with industry-led innovation. Ministries, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, have rolled out policies promoting spiritual and cultural engagement for seniors alongside digital accessibility.
Tenclass’s answer is an integrated “AI + Culture + Age-Friendly” service ecosystem. Moving beyond the narrow focus on physical care, the company offers a full “learn-practice-evaluate-create-perform” cycle that enables seniors to rebuild self-worth through cultural expression. As of June 2026, Tenclass’s cultural literacy services have reached over 26 million users — equivalent to the population of a mid-sized European country.
